Zipline Games, a new mobile games company, has announced the first beta of its Moai game development platform.
Moai offers mobile game developers a open-source SDK for developing IOS and Android games in Lua with all the features and performance of native development. Moai Cloud expands the Lua heritage with flexible hosting and scalable cloud storage.
We’ve been hearing from game developers and studios about the challenges of building great mobile games and extending those games with a cloud back-end. Moai lets developers focus on their unique gameplay and code in Lua from start to finish instead of switching between two or three languages and architectures,” said Todd Hooper, CEO and Founder of Zipline Games.
“After the tremendous success Rovio’s had with Angry Birds, we built a similar game using Moai. In a week we had a physics-based puzzle game called “Wolf Toss” running smoothly on iPhone and Android with simple multiplayer features in the cloud. Developers at GDC definitely saw the value of being able to create compelling games on multiple platforms so quickly.”
