Wood Veneer Texture

In this tutorial we’re going to learn how to make a basic wood veneer pattern in Photoshop. The texture can be used as a background, and, would look good in a furniture store template, for example.

1. Getting Started

You’ll start out by making a new document in Photoshop, I’ll be using a nice & small texture size of 128×128 pixels, but you can scale this to whatever size you want. Fill the background with #a55901.

2. Filter Effects

First of all, apply Filter > Noise > Add Noise, with the following settings:

It should look like this:

To the same (Background) layer, apply Filter > Blur > Motion Blur with the following settings:

With motion blur:
