The average developer isn’t going to get too far trying to collect product data on his or her own. There’s simply way too much info out there. And other solutions can be expensive. So Wishpond’s decision to make its API available to mobile app developers may be significant for many people.
An official statement issued by the company explained, “Beginning today, Wishpond is giving companies a free way to instantly enhance their mobile applications with local product information through Wishpond’s open platform. Mobile application developers can immediately access data on nearly five million products from 1400 large and small retailers across North America.”
That means developers should be able to make things to compete with the Google Shopper app.
Wishpond also thinks its data could come in handy when creating business listing apps, newspaper and magazine apps, and navigation apps (among other things).
Have fun and good luck if you decide to take advantage of this offer.
