Survey Paints Game Devs As Happy

The game developer’s life is a good life, judging from the results of a new survey.  Indeed, the results of the 2010 Game Developer Salary Report show that game developers are, on average, quite pleased with their positions and the industry as a whole.

About 86 percent of participating developers indicated that they’re at least “somewhat satisfied” with their careers.  A further breakdown of that group then showed that two-thirds of the developers considered themselves either “satisfied” or “extremely satisfied.”

Then here’s the other positive piece of news: 88 percent of the survey’s participants agreed with the statement “the game industry is still a great industry to work in.”

The one unfortunate thing relates to the lack of available jobs in the industry.  About 80 percent of the survey’s participants thought there were fewer jobs available in 2009 than in previous years.
