The good news for PS3 developers is that Sony is in no rush to throw a PS4 into the mix, making everyone start from scratch. The less-good news is that Sony believes PS3 developers aren’t too fantastic at their jobs, with an exec arguing developers have left some of the device’s potential on the table.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President Andrew House said during an interview, “If you look at PlayStation 2 as an example, it took God of War II, eight years into the lifecycle, to fully utilise the potential of the console.”
He then continued, “I think it is unlikely that any developer has fully utilised the full potential of PS3 yet, but they are getting much closer everyday.”
So there you have it, for better or for worse. Hat tip goes to Don Reisinger.
