I don’t know how it’s happened, but I seem to have a bunch of duplicate tracks in my (huge) iTunes library and it’s annoying as heck. I can remove them by hand, but it’s tedious and I’m afraid of user error. I checked out the “Show Duplicates” feature in iTunes, but it seems to think [...]

I’m torn.
I really want to be sitting at Steve Jobs’ feet again on Wednesday as he introduces whatever it is he’s introducing. Largely rumored to be not just a slate of some kind, but a new Apple TV, a new iPhone update, and new iLife suite.
If you’ve been living under a rock or in a [...]

There’s been quite a lot of buzz during the past week or so surrounding rumours that Apple will be launching a tablet device very soon, and the expectation that there’ll be an announcement by Apple on January 26. I wrote a post myself, too.
What’s behind all the buzz? How did it get started? Who did [...]

I’ve been buying different applications for my iPhone and would like to start leaving some ratings and reviews of those that I like. I can’t figure out how to do it from my iPhone 3GS, however: what’s the secret?

With all of us being so energy-conscious these days, it natural to want to have your Mac use as little power as possible. But when you get up to walk away from your computer, even for a few minutes, it continues to use power to light up your screen, optimize your hard drive and perform [...]

Step back a little over 25 years. The first Mac is introduced to Apple’s board of directors. [...]

What a gaffe! I wanted to get more information about the new TomTom turn-by-turn directions application for the Apple iPhone 3GS and clicked “Buy App” instead of the icon for the app. Next thing I know, I’ve just paid $99 for this app and it’s downloading onto my computer. Not good, not good at all! [...]

Hi Dave. My contract with my current client ends in three weeks. Since I’ll finally be a free agent I am going to spend several months in west Africa as I have a good friend living in Sierra Leone. I’m looking to teach, freelance or do whatever paying gigs come my way.
I have [...]

I teach classes and like to have my handouts be as short as possible, so I will often print them “two up” or “three up” from PowerPoint or Keynote on my Mac OS X system. What I’d really like to do, however, is have the first page be full size and all the subsequent pages [...]
