Step 3 – Detailing the Paper

Next thing you need to get the Burn Tool, it’s at the bottom right of the second section of tools, along with the Dodge Tool and Sponge Tool.

Set the options as following:

Now start clicking and moving the mouse around on the paper layer. Be sure to unclick and click again to make the shadows actually come out.

More with a smaller brush…

Now in the Filters menu, go to Filter > Artistic > Dry Brush with these settings:
Brush Size: 4.
Brush Detail: 8.
Texture: 1.

Now in the Edit menu, go to Edit > Fade and use about 35% opacity, and the layer mode Overlay.

Next, I applied Filter > Noise > Add Noise with an input of about 0.5.
Lastly I added this Drop Shadow.
