Quick And Dirty Absolut Ad

I just found Absolut Pride Vodka and I thought it would be a great example for an Advertisement in a magazine. So let’s begin.

Open a new document about 1600×1200. Set the background to Layer 0. Then add a Radial Gradient Overlay using #26a3ff as the starting color and #12438f.

Next open a new document at 45×45 with a transparent layer. Then make a circular selection leaving a few pixels from the edge on all sides. Fill the selection black. Set the fill opacity to 50%. Then right click the layer to open the blending options and select Stroke. Set the Stroke to inner and the color to Black. Finally go to Edit > Define Brush. Name the new brush bubble and close that document you will not need it again.

Now using your pen tool create 3 lines in a star pattern in the center of the document. Now we are going to set some new Presets open the Brush Presets Palette. Select Shape Dynamics and set the Size Jitter to 100%. Then select Scattering and set the Scatter to 1000%. Finally select Other Dynamics and set Opacity Jitter to 50%. Change the foreground color to White. Now that we have our dynamics reselect the pen tool and stroke the paths with the Brush and simulate pressure is NOT selected. Then go to Filter > Distort > Twirl 100° hit OK. Next go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur set the radius to 5.0 and hit OK. Set the layer to Overlay.

Now make a new layer. With your Rectangular Marquee Tool Make a selection in the bottom of our document 1600×240. Fill the selection with black and set the layer fill to 0%. Then add a Gradient Overlay Set the Start and end color to #ffffff but set the start opacity to 0% and the end to 100% hit OK. Now set the Blend to Overlay and the Opacity to 20%

Now as you can see the bubble was modified after the floor was added. To do this CTRL+Click the floor layer to make a selection. Then cut the selection from the bubble layer. When you have your new layer go to Edit > Transform > Perspective and widen the bottom part to match like above.

Now download Asset01 from here. Then add it to our document scale it down roughly 60% or to whatever size you like. Then using the pen tool cut the bottle from the white background. Delete the white portion.

Make a new layer. CTRL+Click the bottle layer to make a selection. Then fill the selection with #a5b3d0. Finally set the Blend to Color Burn and the Fill to 30%.

Now duplicate the first bottle layer and go to Edit > Transform > Flip Vertically. Then move that layer towards the bottom of the bottle. Now CTRL+Click the Floor layer again, make a new layer and grab you Gradient tool then select White to Transparent. Make a small gradient from top to mid of the floor. CTRL+Click the new gradient layer to make a new selection. Then go back to you flipped bottle and cut the bottle out from the selection. Delete the remainder. Finally set the Blend to Color Burn and the Fill to 25%.

Now download Asset02 from here. Then add it to our document scale it down roughly 70% or to whatever size you like. Then using the pen tool cut the Glass from the white background. Delete the excess portion.

Follow the same steps as the bottle reflection for the glass reflection.

Now download Asset03 from here. Then add it to our document scale it down roughly to fit on the left of the bottle and glass or to whatever size you like. Then using the pentool cut the lady and cushions from the white background. Delete the excess portion. Set her layer blend to Hard Light.

Follow the same steps as the bottle reflection for the lady’s reflection. Only this time also set the layer blend to Hard Light and the fill to 10 – 15%.

Now let’s add “PLEASE DRINK RESPONSIBLY” to the bottom right corner. Set the font to (Futura XBlk BT) at 20px and make sure all the letter are capitalized

Lastly let’s add “THE GOOD TIMES ARE COMING” to the upper left side. Set the font to (Futura XBlk BT) at 65px and make sure all the letter are capitalized. And you are done. What did you come up with? Post a link to your version or a piece that was inspired by this tutorial and I will post it here.
