Congratulations are in order as the second PayPal X Developer Challenge has come to an end. The grand prize of $100,000 was awarded for an app called iConcessions that’s designed to help sports fans get their food without missing any gameplay.
Ever have to stand in line for six minutes just to order a hot dog? A hot dog that costs $6.25? iConcessions promises to let users place their orders through the app and use PayPal to pay for everything.
Then – and this is also an important part of the process – iConcessions will alert users when their food is ready, or even create the possibility that runners will serve it. So the $6.25 hot dog will cost sports fans less in terms of time away from their seats on that side of the transaction, too.
Anyway, other PayPal X Developer Challenge winners include TipTheWeb, MyStoreRewards, BillBox, Yapper v2.0, Groupstore, CashBack Map, Pay It Square, BookinMedia, and Kabbage.
Naveed Anwar, senior director of PayPal’s developer network, observed in a statement, “The winners of our second Developer Challenge have created some of the best ideas showcasing the future of money that I’ve ever seen. Our first developer challenge was a springboard for those winners to earn more recognition, win other contests, secure venture funding and best of all, attract more customers. We expect a similar road to success for these winners.”
