Open Text Buys Mobile Development Firm

Open Text has announced its reached an agreement to purchase London-based weComm, a mobile app development tool firm.

Open Text says weComm’s technology will allow it to offer a platform to companies to help them provide rich mobile apps on a number of mobile operating systems and devices.

“As mobile devices are changing the consumer landscape, more enterprise customers are moving to mobile apps to reach everyone from customers to employees,” said Eugene Roman, Chief Technology Officer at OpenText.

weComm’s Wave platform offer media rich applications for smartphones and tablets including iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Symbian and Java.

weComm’s device-independent platform adds real value over the other options our enterprise customers have today,” said Roman.
