Developers who have been considering converting an iPhone app to run on Microsoft’s new mobile operating system could soon have an added incentive to do so. Rumor has it that Microsoft is actually paying some developers to follow this course of action in the hopes of making its app ecosystem a little more tempting to consumers.
This rumor comes courtesy of PocketGamer, and although details have proven pretty much impossible to come by, it’s a plausible idea. The Bing cashback program stemmed from a similar thought process, after all.
Also, it’s not as if Microsoft, with its market cap of $230 billion, is exactly short on cash.
So if you’re on the fence when it comes to porting an app, check your email a little more often and don’t disregard any messages about cash from Microsoft as spam. This could represent an important new revenue stream for some developers.
