Location Labs, a provider of mobile location-as-a-service, today announced the availability of its Geofencing platform with improved functionality and the Beta launch of a new Spatial Storage tool. Both of these cloud-based services are now open to developers.
Location Labs’ geofencing technology helps iPhone and Android developers define virtual boundaries on the phone, or in the cloud, with probability estimates for location accuracy and battery management. Starting today, any developer can now register for a free developer account to explore the geofencing API and build applications.
Location Labs is building on the success of its geofencing platform by adding a Spatial Storage tool. The product provides API access to 3rd party location data combined with geofencing, plus the ability to push location and application data to the cloud to run fast spatial context-aware searches.
“Our goal is to continue to innovate, setting the pace for the development of location technologies and inspiring a whole new category of applications as a result,” said Tasso Roumeliotis, CEO of Location Labs.
