iOS 4 Gold Build Introduced

iPhone developers (who are formal members of the iPhone Developer Program), today’s a good day for you: the “Gold Master” candidate of iOS 4 has arrived and is available for tinkering.

Note that we didn’t go so far as to say “great day” or suggest that you start dancing.  It may be that this isn’t the most exciting bit of code to ever be released.  You may be hard-pressed to even catch the differences, in fact.

Chris Ziegler, who spotted that the Gold Master seed had become available for download, admitted, “We just updated to iOS 4 GM and haven’t noticed anything particularly new or crazy yet.  The install requires a beta of iTunes 9.2 to be installed as well, which adds in support for app folders and backups, but otherwise life is proceeding just like it did when we had beta 3 installed.”

Still, with the iPhone 4 on the way, it seems like developers should be especially sure that they’re dealing with the latest version of everything, so enjoy the new offering.
