Netbooks can’t measure up to desktops in many ways, including storage space for music and screen size. But Intel and The Game Creators want to address the disparity in gaming, and they’ve offered a vacation worth around $5,000 to the developer who best helps them do so.
In a contest that will close on October 3rd, Intel and TGC are looking for the “Best all around netbook game,” “Best graphics for a netbook,” “Best game play for a netbook,” and “Standout Game Element.”
The winner in the “all around” category will get the vacation, while the other winners will then get varying amounts of publicity or a netbook.
That’s not a terrible deal, considering that there isn’t much of a market for netbook-only games. And hopefully the “netbook-only” constraints of the contest will mean developers can save time versus creating something to take advantage of a top-of-the-line desktop.
Contest winners will be announced on October 15th if all goes according to plan.
