Installing Brushes

This is pretty simple for advanced users but novices to photoshop will really find this useful. During the course of your work, a time will come when the installed brushes just don’t suffice. Today I will lay out the simplest technique for installing brushes and actions and also give you a few good resources for finding these components (all of which are free!).

The first step is to acquire the brushes you’d like to use. There are plenty of good websites but my favorites are:

I’ve included a link to a nice brush set for our use in the installing procedure. Go ahead and download this (or the brush of your choice)

Unzip the file using your favorite utility. If you need help with unzipping, do a search for winzip or winrar in google.

This is SOO easy folks, we’re almost done! All you need to do is navigate to the Brushes folder. Mine is located at:

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Brushes

Now simply drag and drop the the unzipped brush into the directory! Please note that this strategy can also be applied to installing actions, just be sure to put them into the Actions folder.
