HR-XML Consortium Gets New Board Members

The HR-XML Consortium has brought two new people aboard in positions of authority.  Talent Technology Director of Product Development Andrew Cunsolo and Questionmark CEO Eric Shepherd have been named to the Consortium’s 2010 Board of Directors.

The Consortium is, if you’re unfamiliar with it, “the only independent, non-profit, volunteer-led organization dedicated to the development and promotion of a standard suite of XML specifications to enable e-business and the automation of human resources-related data exchanges.”

And considering that HR specialists play such an important role at most companies, determining the makeup of their entire workforces, the Consortium (and Cunsolo and Shepherd’s connection with it) has the potential to be rather important, too.

Shepherd promised in a statement, “I’m honored to serve on the Consortium’s board and delighted to contribute the Consortium’s initiatives to define, enhance and expand interoperability standards for human resources technology field.  Assessments are playing an increasingly strategic role throughout the talent management process, so I’m eager to play my part in helping the Consortium ensure the availability of dependable open data exchange standards.”

Let’s hope XML finds its way into a lot of HR professionals’ offices as a result of these developments.
