How To Develop A Data Cluster

Prepare the Data Cluster Priority Matrix. It identifies the order in which each data grouping should be added to the data warehouse. For example, it identifies that Marketing Research should be done first, followed by Customer Service, etc.

This deliverable is a component of the Data Warehousing Program Strategy. Once the strategy is completed, the findings and recommendations are presented to the Acceptor.

Size and Format

The Data Cluster Priority Matrix is an informal document, included as an appendix.

An Association Matrix can be used to show the implementation priorities to management. The priorities matrix is a maximum of two pages. A foil summarizing the recommendations should also be created.

ACTIVITY – DEFINE AND PLAN DATA CONVERSION

To define the procedures and a plan for converting data from the old to the new system. Each defined procedure is reviewed to determine which procedures to automate. Both manual and automated procedures are defined.

ACTIVITY – PREPARE PHYSICAL DATABASE

To construct the physical database, identify space requirements for development and testing, and allocate the space using the database utilities. Database support utilities, such as bulk data loading and backup and recovery, are designed and developed.
