Grungy, Slimey Text Effect

Welcome to the tutorial, you’ll be learning how to make some grungy, slimey text in Photoshop.

1.

First of all start by making a new document, my document was 400 x 200 pixels. Now add in a gradient in the background, the colors I used for my gradient were #545c25 and #90a625.

Now write out your text with a nice, cartoonish kind of font. The font I used is called Vogue Cyr, if you don’t have that font just look through your fonts and find a good one that will suit the theme.

Note: You can write your text out in any color you want, it will be overwritten with the layer styles ;)
Right-click the text layer in the layer’s palette, go into the Blending Options and apply the following styles and settings:

  1. Inner Shadow
  2. Outer Glow
  3. Inner Glow
  4. Bevel and Emboss
  5. Gradient Overlay (same colors as background)

Now I have a result like this:
