Google Restores Missing Android Apps

A rather serious problem with the Android Market seems to have been fixed.  Apps that had effectively disappeared from sight are now back in full view of potential users, and Google’s issued an apology for its slow response.

Things began to go downhill last week when developers saw comments on their apps – and entire apps – vanish from the Android Market.  And Google stayed pretty much mum, which worried many developers (meaning not just the ones who were losing money).

Yesterday afternoon, though, a post on the Android Developers Blog admitted, “Regrettably, we fell short of our own standard for customer support by not communicating the issue to our developers and how we were working to resolve it.”

The post then stated, “We’re pleased to say that the issue looks to be resolved with a patch, and to our best knowledge, all apps that were previously impacted are up and visible again.  Again, apologies for the delay and inconvenience this created.”

Hopefully Google’s learned a lesson about communication that it’ll remember the next time a problem occurs.
