Google Image Search API Allows License Restrictions

Google announced that restricting by licenses is now available in its image search API.

There are two different ways developers can go about utilizing this feature. First, in the Javscript API, you can restrict results to one of four common licenses, using the setRestriction method after creating an Image Search searcher.

Second, is using the JSON API, you can use the as_rights optional parameter to tell the API to include or exclude certain attributions.

“I’m always amazed at the creative ways developers use Google’s APIs,” Google’s Adam Feldman says of the update. “I’m always pleased when we are able to add a new feature to the API, as I know that someone, somewhere will do something cool and unexpected with it.”

More details about how to partake in these methods can be found here.
