Game Developers Choice Awards Open For Nominations

Soon enough, the Game Developers Choice Awards will be distributed to the industry’s top teams and individuals.  The old “can’t win if you don’t play” saying applies, however, so here’s one other important piece of information: the window for nominations will only be open today through January 8th.

Don’t worry about high costs or other hurdles.  All that’s necessary in order to nominate an entity is a Gamasutra.com account, and then the process is handled through the Game Developers Choice Awards website.

Otherwise, people only have to account for the existence of 11 standard categories: Best Audio, Best Game Debut, Best Downloadable Game, Best Handheld Game, Best Game Design, Best Technology, Best Visual Arts, Best Writing, Best New Social/Online Game, Innovation Award, Game of the Year.

Then there are three special awards: Lifetime Achievement, Pioneer Award, and Ambassador Award.

Good luck to all of the nominees.

Judges will include individuals employed by BioWare, PopCap, Ubisoft, Valve, and Zynga, by the way, and if anyone needs more convincing of the importance of the Game Developers Choice Awards, we should perhaps note that the Game Developers Conference is in its 25th cycle.
