DotMobi Invites Developers To Test DeviceAtlas

Developers who build sites with Microsoft ASP.NET got a nod from dotMobi this week. The Dublin-based company gave a sort of late St. Patrick’s day present as it moved forward with the latest version of its DeviceAtlas mobile device database and invited people to join the beta trials.

A name, an email address, and tiny bit of information concerning applicants’ ASP.Net’s Mobile Controls is all that’s required by the official submission form. An unknown number of developers will then get a short head start on everyone else.

Want to know what’s at stake? Trey Harvin, the CEO of dotMobi, explained in a statement, “DeviceAtlas for Microsoft ASP.NET significantly expands options for site developers. Today, ASP.NET supports approximately 400 mobile devices. With DeviceAtlas for Microsoft ASP.NET, developers will have access to information on more than 4,500 mobile devices with monthly, weekly or even daily updates which they will be able to use seamlessly with ASP.NET mobile controls.”

And that list of mobile devices will, in case you’re wondering, include all of the ultra-popular ones like the iPhone, Blackberry, Kindle, and PSP.

The next generation of DeviceAtlas for Microsoft ASP.NET is supposed to become generally available sometime in April.
