The majority (90%) of developers say they plan on building an application for Apple’s new Tablet in the coming year, according to a new survey by Appcelerator.
Apple Tablet has landed in the third spot right behind iPhone and Android as a preferred development platform.
Developers see more opportunities than gaming apps and are gearing up to develop apps in the areas of entertainment, business, social networking and education.
Developers plan to incorporate the following anticipated features: multi-touch gestures, the tablet’s unique user interface, multi-tasking (running multiple applications at once), and networking.
“We believe these findings are particularly relevant and insightful because Appcelerator developers uniquely represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds,” said Jeff Haynie, Co-founder and CEO of Appcelerator.
“There is balanced representation from iPhone and Android developers on the mobile side and PC, Mac, and Linux developers on the desktop side. We have a global audience that splits 52 percent in North America, 33 percent in Europe and 15 percent throughout the rest of the world. As well, individual developers represent 46 percent of respondents, while 54 percent work in businesses.”
