Dailymotion Opens API To Developers

Video sharing site Dailymotion said today it is opening its Application Programming Interface (API) to the public.

Developers will be able to eventually access all of Dailymotion’s core functions (upload, playlists, channels etc) through the API and will be able to integrate Dailymotion modules into any site or application (iPhone, iPad, Android, Bada, Windows Phone 7 etc).

The SDK’s for the Dailymotion API are available in the JavaScript, PHP and Objective C (iPhone, iPad and Mac) languages to start with; ActionScript (Flash) and Python are under development and other languages will follow according to demand.

The Dailymotion API uses the OAuth 2.0 standard protocol as an authentication and permission system to give the site/third party application the option to interact with Dailymotion on behalf of its common users.
