This week I decided to deviate a bit from my usual tutorial to do something a bit more … absract. Abstract wallpaper are really fun to do especially if you are just wanting to experiment and see what you come up with.
Let’s begin. To build this wallpaper select your screen resolution. I will be using 1920×1080 but this step are universal. Opne a new document in your resolution and fill it with black. Then go to Filter > Render > Difference Clouds and hit OK. Then hit CTRL+F 8 – 10 times to get a good color range mix. Next dupliacte this layer and hide the cope for now.
Now that we have our first layer selected again go to Filter > Blur > Motion Blur. Set the angle to 45° and the amount to 450. Hit Ok.
Next add a gradient overlay to this layer. Set the layer blend to Vivid Light. Now set the gradient start color to #1c5a85 and the end color to #3093c7. Finally set the opacity to 60% and hit OK.
Now unhide our hidden copy and select that layer. Then go to Filter > Distort > Glass… . Leave all the setting as default and hit OK. Set the layer to Color Dodge.
Make a new layer and fill it with white. Then select you custom shape tool and choose “Registration Target 2”. Drag the shape till the rays fill your document. make sure the end of the rays and the outer circle do not show. Then go to your paths palette and CTRL+Click your work path and go back to you layer palette. Make sure the White layer is selected and hit the Delete key. Now go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the amount to 9.0 pixels and hit OK. Finally set the layer style to Soft Light and the Fill to 30%.
Again make a new layer and fill it with black. Set the layer fill to 0% and add a gradient overlay. Set the Gradient Blend mode to Saturation. Set the gradient to Transparent to Black and set the style to reflected. And you are done.
What did you come up with? Send me a link to you version and I will post it here.
