It’s not quite time for any one developer to be showered in confetti (and for everybody else to look extra close for inspiration or a “how to”), but the 2011 App Brand Challenge, which is connected to the GSMA and Coke, is now a step closer to being finished. Today, 15 finalists were named.
An official announcement on the subject explained, “The GSMA today announced the finalists for the 2011 Brand App Challenge, a competition in which mobile application developers create ‘brand apps’ for Coca-Cola under its Coca-Cola, Coke Zero and Diet Coke brands. Five finalists were announced for each Coca-Cola brand and these 15 developers will now move forward in the final stage of evaluation to select the winners of the Brand App Challenge.”
The winners in each category will be announced later this month at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and they’ll get a hefty $10,000 apiece for their trouble.
Then everybody else should stay tuned for additional opportunities, since it sounds like the GSMA and Coke like what’s taken place.
Michael O’Hara, chief marketing officer for the GSMA, stated, “We’re thrilled to be working with Coca-Cola in the inaugural Brand App Challenge and we’re very impressed with the quality of the entries we’ve seen so far. We’re looking forward to continuing the Brand App Challenge programme and helping to establish new dialogue and collaboration between the mobile community and major brands such as Coca-Cola.”
