It should go without saying that Blizzard is one of the big boys when it comes to game developers. For better or worse (more on that in a minute), a job there is about as corporate as it gets. So it seemed wise to share with you today that the success of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has caused Blizzard to look for more employees.
A post at Blizzard would have a lot of advantages, after all, as the company could pay more and offer more job security than many smaller outfits. Plus, there’s the name recognition factor, whereby friends and family members might share a positive impression of your employer rather than a puzzled look.
The only downside is the possibility that some indie types would consider a Blizzard employee a sellout.
Here’s the actual news, anyway: Paul McDougall reported, “For work on current and future WoW games, Blizzard is looking for artists, level designers, software engineers, and technical writers, according to the company’s Web site.”
Good luck if you decide to put in an application.
