Aussie Game Dev To Close

There’s bad news today for members (and fans) of Australia’s gaming scene.  Krome Studios, the continent’s largest game development studio, is supposed to shut down, seemingly leaving Australia with little other than outfits focused on mobile apps.

For the sake of providing a little background info, Matthew Reynolds reported earlier, “Rumors last week suggested that the developer’s two remaining offices in Brisbane and Melbourne were to be shut following a string of unsuccessful projects.”

Then he continued, “It has been confirmed by IGN that the studio has laid off its staff over the weekend and is set to close, but may install a skeleton crew to finish any remaining projects before a full closure takes place.”

Perhaps that’ll allow Krome to leave enough of a positive impression on its way out that its employees will be able to find new and better jobs.  Or maybe someone will be able to put together a fresh outfit using the same talent.
