RIM apps represented 11 percent of the U.S. developer platform usage mix in July, according to a new report from Millennial Media.
Last month, Apple was the platform used 100 percent of the time by multi-platform developers on Millennial’s network. Android took the second spot with 75 percent, followed by RIM with nearly half developing for their platform. The report said it expects the RIM percentage to increase with the launch of their app program and new devices.
“The fact that more devices are being launched by the different handset manufacturers and the fact that developers are choosing to develop on multiple platforms, continues to show that where there is money to be made, developers will go there,” said Steve McCord, head of product development, Millennial Media in a blog post.
“In addition, it shows that the larger the reach for any one particular application, the higher monetization growth opportunities that affords them.”
