$100 Million Fund9 Encourages Porting To Android

Many people would agree that iOS developers who have ignored Android so far have missed a big opportunity.  The upside, however, is that they remain eligible to benefit from a new $100 million fund (called Fund9) established by OpenFeint and The9.

OpenFeint and The9 want top developers to port their games to Android, and the fund’s meant to provide an extra incentive.  Developers should be compensated for their time and energy as they do extra work.

This will only apply to certain developers, of course.  An official statement explained, “Games will be chosen based on the quality of the game, past download performance in other app stores, and the strength of the game developer.”

But developers can get their feet in the figurative door by emailing [email protected], and an added bonus of this arrangement is that OpenFeint and The9 will help some developers repackage their games for China.

Good luck if you decide to go for it.
